My first flight

salam,

Last saturday, my friends and i have gone to subang airport to examine one of experimental aircraft that in Malaysia that is CH701 that also designed and produced by zenith aircraft company. Some of the avionics team decided to have a look on its avionics and electrical wiring for this airplane so that they can get some knowledge on how the wiring works or how it is connected generally. Although this is a different airplane that we are building now, that is CH750, but, generally, it is almost the same especially on the airframe.

So, i decided to follow them to have a better look on how some parts are connected and how assembly works. After few hours of work, examining the airplane, Capt Siva arrived and he offered us to have a fly with the CH701. Wow, a great opportunity for us to fly here in Subang and as for me, and the same to the rest of us, this is our first flight with light airplane. But due to lack of time, only me is selected to fly with the ch701 so that i can more appreciate on the airplane that i currently assemble in my workplace.

So, before the flight, this is the time to take some pictures few minutes before take off. A bit scared because this is a light airplane but because of the confidence of the airplane and the pilot himself, i have left my scary feelings in the hangar.

So here i am, in the CH701 airplane, waiting at the side of the runaway to give way for 3 passes airplanes before we take off the ground. At this moment, Engine are tested with high RPM so that the engine is in good condition, meters and avionics are also checked for their normal behavior. After all are checked, ATC gives us clearance to take off.

So, we take off and climb to 1500 ft above ground level. As on my right, i can see clearly this new Maritim Building that is on construction. i guess, they will placed their helicopters and fixed planes here. So here it is, climbing to 1500 ft with full thrust engine. A bit shake on the airplane because of the turbulences but the aircraft rigidly stable on its wings. I think, the height for now is about 300 ft.

So here it is, for altitude 1500 ft, level flight, and i can see clearly the river around subang and shah alam. Sitting on the right side of the airplane and feel the birds eye view from top. Really amazing to have view such as this and of course floating in the air !

here is another picture above the buildings and seeing through the horizon.

Its me as in the right position and on my left is capt siva who piloted this ch701. very experienced pilot and his skills on controlling the control stick is very high and precise. He taught me to hold the control stick gently, and not to hard so that the airplane will react slowly. he also taught me on what are servo trims is about and how the G's feels. I only felt for 1.5 G after he maneuver the airplane and, wow, this is how its feel as before this, i only watch the G's effect in youtube. It cannot be described here.

And this is the view from the left side of the airplane. There are some area of construction site and capt siva said, that is enough for landing because of its firm soil. So, after ATC gave clearance, we descend to 500 ft and try to simulate an emergency landing on the construction site. So, we fly for an altitude 500 ft above the site and he showed me that this aircraft possibly can land on the site. After that, we climb again to 1500 ft and towards port Klang.

So here are some pictures along the flight that is great to view.

Here is the cockpit of the airplane. With the airplane nose downward, we are descending for landing procedure to the subang airport.

The CH701 gently flies parallel to the runway to make sure no aircraft or object on the runway. At this time, I can see a white airplane is flying toward the runway and lands. So, as the ATC report to us, we are the second plane. We landed safely after 0.5 hours flight with the CH701.

This is the last picture of me, with CH701 and Subang airport Runway.

This is very valuable experience to me as this is an unexpected flight and also first flight for me in a light airplane. This will be a memorable memory for me and such as a birthday gift to me as my birthday is only 2 days before the date stated on the picture.

What can i say, the CH701 is very good on showing how its fly gracefully in the air and i am really amazed to fly with it and as my first flight with a light airplane, this airplane have showed me confidence and teach me the important things about building an airplane.

Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Acheh Aerospace Career Day

Salam,

Today, i want to look back of some activities that my workplace and i have arranged for the primary students from around sungai acheh that is aerospace career day that we hold it early 2011. Although it is hard to explain, especially for primary students what is career and occupation, but we bring a different method for them that is an enjoyment with knowledges.

We have bring our exhibition team and also our live radio control rc aircrafts as static display and airshow for them to see what is aerospace and aeronautics study from a primary students view. We think that we have succesfully reach our objectives by showing to the students on how aircrafts fly and how satellites circling around the earth. (how astro works !)

so below are some pictures that we can show you on what happened on that day.
Nitro Rc model with landing strip made from plastic mat

CH750 SHORT TAKE OFF LANDING (STOL) PROJECT

 Salam,

For 2011, i am on my way completing my School vision project that is building a CH750 kit project. This airplane project is a great project. At the end of the project, our university will have a two seater experimental airplane that can be fly to the civil airspace around Malaysia and also not to forget, around the globe.

We received this kit on early 2011 and these pictures are some of the pictures that i can share with you guys about building a small part of the airplane that is the slats. Do you know what is slat? slat is a lifting device that is located in front, along the wing. These slats will helps the airflow to be more attached to the wing so that the wing will have more efficient lift rather than conventional design. Why does this airplane call experimental? It is because of this slat that are usually applied to big airplane such as an airbus or Boeing airplane that can take about 300 to 400 passengers. while this slat is install on this small aircraft that is only for two passengers.

As for those who are not in airline or aerospace industry, maybe it is difficult to imagine what is airfoil, wings and also this special parts that is slat. As you can see, in these pictures, these slats are made of aluminium and not just this slats, other parts also are built by aluminum. It is because it is light in weight.

Enjoy these pictures, about the construction process that i manage the process. as for now, it is already mid of october, so we expect to finished assembling all the airframe on december 2011.
The corner ribs are clecoed and drilled with 30 size along the slat

The top rib and top skin are examined to fit with the pilot hole and are drilled with 30 size

The top rib are drilled using 30 size. then, the top skin is clecoed along the pilot hole line that are located at the aft slat and drilled space (selang)

cleco the hole that have been drilled with 30 size

Bottom skin is clecoed and drill along the aft slat pilot

Grip pin is ready to be removed
